In a classic case of "why didn't we think of this first," Chinese design student Gonglue Jiang has shown us a new way for overcoming the limitations imposed by the scarcity of USB ports on some computers. Instead of forcing you to constantly hot swap devices into that one port, Gonglue's Infinite USB plugs keep all your cables connected, thereby facilitating those smartphone syncs, spy camera recharges, and -- for the ultimate irony -- maybe even a USB hub. If you're thinking this would be brought down by a bout of bandwidth starvation once you start some USB multitasking, you're probably right, but power shortages shouldn't be an issue as the author has also come up with an external power connector that joins into his Infinite chain of connectivity. If only this wasn't just a concept.
Source: Engadget It’s 2010! Do you you think we can now move to a new level where we no longer need paint and wallpapers to decorate our walls? That is, if you opt to use this modern wall art designed by the incomparable Amirko. Called, “Change It”, you can actually change the color of your wall instantly from white to black to any color that you want, depending on your mood. You can also write or draw anything on your wall with this modern wall art. The modern wall art features square “pixels” that make up the wall. Each of the pixel is a triangle of 3 colors (white, black and a spot color). By turning each you can create a new design any time you wish. This is also a pretty cool option to have in an office if you have some extra space. You can have your walls redocated with different color everyday or put some text on it during special occasion or holidays. So you can have a whole new look at your place anytime you want.
Something practically funny I found on the web. Worth a read.
Guys, last night I did that thing where I dropped my phone in the toilet, and it wouldn't even turn on afterwards. I was at Video Isle whining about how I was going to have to buy a completely new iPhone, and there was a man there who just happened to work for AT&T. I asked him if I should try to blow-dry my phone, and he said: SAVIOR FROM AT&T: Turn it off completely, put it in a bag of rice, and leave it there for a couple hours. The rice will absorb the moisture. ME: *Blank stare* S.F.A.T.&T.: Just do it. So, I went home, got out a bag of rice, and stuck my phone in there. I took it out about an hour later, tried to turn it on, and the screen kind of lamely flickered at me. But at least it was turning on, so I stuck it back in there. A couple hours later, before I was about to go to sleep, I took it out and turned it on...AND IT TOTALLY WORKED. Unless it was a random act of magic, you all should try this next time your iPhones or iPods get soaked. You can thank me later. All of Kidrobot's designs are produced in limited edition; the more famous the Kidrobot design collaborators, the more limited and the more expensive the item. I'm sure the Munny Lightbotz, by lighting designer and artist Marcus Tremonto, are no exception.
Here's are some of the members of Tremento's collection, now selling at Kidrobot's Soho store. Grab them if you can; they're destined to be classics! r Source: Inventorspot and Lightbotz Japan's SolidAlliance earned a warm place in our collective nerd bosom long ago for the sheer lunacy of the products it creates. Today it's offering round two of its Crazy Earphone collection that includes some kind of mushroom (that is a mushroom, right?), the ol' Katana blade or arrow through the head trick, and a parasitical, conjoined ear if you want everyone to think you've been subjected to a tragic cloning experiment. Spec-wise your ¥2,000 (about $22) will take home a pair of in-ear buds with 20 ~ 20,000Hz frequency range assisted by a 10-mm driver. Not that it matters: there's no chance in hell that you're buying these for performance reasons.
